How to read Textbooks (Medical or non-medical)?

Hello there. Anybody related to medical profession has very good skills of studying but do you know that there are different modes of studying depending upon the requirement? If anyone is having problems studying textbooks than there are few proven ways to improve the memory.

When you study complex technical things like legal documents its analytical study, there is no compulsion to recall in this type of study. When you need information to be recalled its study reading, suited for medical reading. While other modes are general reading, skimming and scanning.

The above PQ4R system applies here as well but you have to do following things in addition:

  • Learn Medical vocabulary and notations and formulas as you encounter them. 
  • Understand what is being explained like problem solution, cause and effect, classification, facts etc.
  • and at the end write notes for frequent revisions.
